If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified

1 Peter 4:14

Regardless of the opposition we may face in the world, we must always affirm the Lordship of Christ in all situations. We must remind ourselves always that we do not belong to ourselves: we belong to the Lord. He is our Lord and as such, He is responsible for us. He looks out for us and as a good shepherd, goes out of His way to seek for us when we go astray. Because of what He does for us, we must remember to give Him a special place of honour in our hearts.

As believers, when we give Christ a special place in our hearts, we exalt Him as the object of our love and loyalty. We recognize His perfection, magnify His glory and extol His greatness. As part of our commitment to Him we submit ourselves to His will, realizing that His intentions for us are always for our good. That means that even when we are going through difficult and tough times, we must remain dedicated to the Lord.

No matter what happens to us, God loves us and will always be by our side. To be dedicated to the Lord in the face of persecution and suffering demands that we set our minds and affections on heavenly values and not earthly ones. If you are preoccupied with possessions, pleasures and popularity, you will live in perpetual fear of the enemy’s attacks. Whatever we set our hearts on, will determine what we value and give priority to.
