After 40 days of fasting and prayer, I encourage you as Paul did to the church in Philippi to rejoice and celebrate your victory in the Lord. Naturally, we rejoice and celebrate when all is going well. It is very difficult to rejoice when the heart is in pain. The Israelites in Psalm 137:4 lamented: “How shall we sing the LORD’S song in a foreign land?” It is human. It seems strange that Paul who was in prison often, suffered shipwreck, afflictions and beatings was telling the church to rejoice and celebrate always.
But he tells us to rejoice in hope. Hope is an earnest expectation that something will happen. Hope is a firm assurance that what God has said He will do, He will do. So we rejoice in anticipation of what God is about to do in our lives in fulfilment of His promises to us. I don’t know what God has said concerning your life these 40 Days of Power, but whatever it is, you can start rejoicing because He who has promised is faithful, and He will do it.
The joy of the Christian is in the Lord, not in what He gives us. We rejoice in the giver of the gift not in the gift. We rejoice in the Lord! He is our joy. He is our delight. He is our heart’s desire.
In Him we rejoice. And because the Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever more, we can rejoice in Him always. This continuous rejoicing in the Lord doesn’t mean you will never suffer grief or disappointment, it means these temporary emotions will not defeat you or hinder you from rejoicing in the Lord.
So why don’t you put on your dancing shoes, and dance and celebrate the goodness of the Lord?
