I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. —

Philippians 4:13

There are two kinds of strength in life: human strength – self- sufficiency and divine strength – supernatural enablement. It’s critical that you acknowledge and experience both.

By divine strength, God enables you to do all things; in fact, God Himself becomes your strength, He takes over where you get stuck, quickens you and works with you to the end. I can count how many times I reached the end of myself and called on God to be my strength, I am sure it’s the same with you.

God will strengthen you to accomplish something you can never take credit for – supernatural strength. In your Christian life, it’s good to acknowledge the limitation of your human strength and draw from God’s divine strength to win all battles. When you learn how to draw from God’s strength, you are able to do more than what is humanly possible.

Yes, there comes a time when the load gets so heavy you don’t know if you can go another day. You don’t think you can make it through the night. You just don’t see how you can go on, yet you scale through. God wants you to acknowledge the inadequacy of self-sufficiency and find His perfect strength in your weakness.

To Paul, I can do all things means: he could bear all trials, perform any Christian responsibility, subdue all evil, overcome all temptations and survive all adversity. In Him was no self-confidence, he knew where his strength was coming from – Christ.

The songwriters Jerry Salley & Steven Curtis Chapman said, “His strength is perfect when our strength is gone. He’ll carry us when we can’t carry on. Raised in His power the weak become strong. His strength is perfect.” God’s promise of strength in times of need is not just to enable you survive, but to overcome triumphantly.

Prayer:

Lord, strengthen me with your divine power to triumph in all situations.
