2 Kings 19:14
Even before the battle began, Sennacherib was trying to use mind games and psychological warfare to intimidate Hezekiah. He made a roll call of nations Assyria had defeated and asked Hezekiah what the gods of those nations had been able to do.
Hezekiah’s reaction was instructive as a blueprint for us today. He spread the letter before God and handed over the issue to Him. In verse 15, he reminded the Lord that He was the one the enemy was trying to reproach. He said, “You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.” Psalms 2:4 says when the heathen plot against the Lord and His people, “He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.” The Lord responded by declaring that because Hezekiah had trusted in Him and called upon Him, He would deliver Him from his troubles.
Whatever challenge may be confronting you today may look impossible to overcome. Take a minute to turn it over to the Lord and remind yourself that with God all things are possible.
Prayer:
Father, I surrender every battle confronting me to You. I thank You that You will fight for me and I shall hold my peace.Scripture Reading:
