Christ in me participates in my earthly struggles. In Christ, I also participate in His heavenly victory. It is two sides of the same truth. It is, however, possible for Christ to share in your life without you sharing in His life. Beyond inviting Him into your life, you must share fully in His life.
What does ‘In Christ’ mean? The phrase ‘In Christ’ occurs 165 times in Paul’s writings, with 38 in Ephesians. Being ‘In Christ’ does not mean inside Christ. It connotes:
Identity.
We take on His identity. We are known through Him. We are called Christians because we are identified with Christ.
Intimacy.
We are deeply united with Him. Paul expressed the desire for greater intimacy in Philippians 3:10 which says, “that I may know Him.”
Inheritance.
We share in what He has. Ephesians 1:11 assures us that we have obtained an inheritance in Christ.
Impartation.
We receive from Him. 1 Corinthians 1:30 says, “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God— and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.”
