As we travel along this path of obedience, we will most likely experience conflict. Challenges could arise because what we think or want is contrary to God’s plan. Or there could be conflict between God’s values and our own; between His desires and our ambitions. As children of light, we must be ready to walk in the light of His word. When He provides light for our path, we must be obedient and follow.
A life of obedience also includes placing value on the wise counsel of those who are mature in the things of God. The Lord speaks to us in the voice of men and women who are yielded to Him. Though they are human, they can also speak the mind of God into our lives.
To learn obedience also requires a willingness to accept divine chastisement. None of us live a perfect life, and we go off course daily. God, out of His great love, will discipline us in order to turn us back toward Him. Obedience to God requires that we accept our mistakes when they are made known to us so that we can correct our ways and stay on the paths of righteousness.
