Hebrews 11:31
Rahab lived within the walls of the city of Jericho. Although the people of Jericho did not serve the Most High God, they had heard about His works and mighty acts of deliverance for Israel. Now, Israel was marching straight for Jericho and everyone was on high alert.
When two Israelite spies made their way to Rahab’s house, instead of responding in fear, Rahab boldly protected them by hiding them in her roof and making a way of escape for the spies. In the face of great danger to herself and family, Rahab acted courageously to protect God’s people.
This was an act of a woman who had heard about God and decided to follow Him wholeheartedly, whatever the cost. Rahab’s bold decision to follow God eventually led to the deliverance of her entire family. God knew Rahab’s heart. He knew that within that sinful life was a heart that yearned for a change.
God knew that Rahab’s heart was ready to turn from the pagan gods to the One True God. He saw potential in Rahab and called her out of her past, and into a great adventure and a life filled with promise. Can you trust Him to use you?
