He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. –

Psalm 40:2

Insecurity may not sound as explosive as the landmines of pride or jealousy, but it, too, can be a very dangerous weakness in our character. A great deal of damage can result in the life of a person who habitually feels insecure. Such feelings can develop from many different situations. The person may have experienced a tragedy like the loss of parents in early life, or grew up in an environment of rejection. Sometimes one may be insecure because of a major failure he experienced.

Whatever the root causes for insecurity, the effects are often similar. An insecure person may be indecisive because of our fear of making a wrong decision. This weakness of indecision may in turn lead to failure in many areas of his life. He also often finds it difficult to establishing lasting relationships because of fear he may not be a good friend or be hurt by those he relates with. An insecure person keeps his distance for fear of rejection which people often perceive as pride or arrogance. Over time, if he doesn’t confront his insecurity and deal with it by the power of the Holy Spirit, it will lead to failure and lack of fulfilment in life.

As children of God, insecurity should not be found in us. We are the royal priesthood, the chosen generation, and God’s special people. We are members of God’s household; heirs of His Kingdom and joint heirs with Jesus. For our sake, God sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross for our sins. No child of God is insignificant.

You must make a decision to trust what God has said about you and reject the lies of Satan. By faith, confront your insecurities and confess your worth in the Lord.

Prayer:

Lord, you are my source of worth and security. In you I am complete and secured.
