Luke 2:10-11
Saviour:
one who delivers and keeps safe. The story of God’s dealings with the Jews in the Bible is woven around the theme of salvation.
From the stories of Noah to Moses to Joshua to the Judges, to David to Esther, the Bible tells us about God’s deliverance. Jesus is the ultimate Saviour and deliverer. He delivered us eternally.
Christ did not save us from afar. He came to where we were. Our Saviour did not use someone or something else to save us. He offered Himself as the sacrifice for our salvation.
Christ:
one who is anointed and approved. There were many called ‘Jesus’ in the days of Jesus. But there is only one Jesus The Christ.
Christ, refers to one who is uniquely set apart; One like no other. The angels announced that this Jesus was Christ.
In the Old Testament, three categories of people were anointed or set apart to do God’s work. These were the prophets, priests and kings. Jesus was all three.
Lord:
one who is master and owner. The angel announced that this Jesus is Lord. He was the Lord of life. He is the owner and master of creation. Everything we see in nature originated from Him. Though Jesus is Lord, we must accept Him as our personal Lord. That means each one of us must individually submit our lives to Him. To do that, we must ask Him to come into our hearts and take residence in us. We must also seek to know and do His will daily.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us Your Son. I receive Him as my Saviour, Lord and Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!Scripture Reading:
