Psalm 19:7
Those who only know God through His creation, have a General Revelation of Him. Those who know God through His revealed written word, have a Special Revelation of Him.
Our passage for today presents different attributes of God’s written word; His Special Revelation to us.
The Word of God is the law of the Lord.
The Hebrew word translated as ‘word’ is, ‘torah’; it means instruction, direction or rule. That means the Word of God is our teacher and guide. It is the standard by which we measure all things. If the word of the Lord is our teacher, then we must approach it with humility so that we can learn from the instruction it gives.
As our instructor, the Word of God is perfect.
It is a perfect instructor and rule. We can’t go wrong when we follow the instructions God’s Word gives us. When we embrace its instructions, the Word of the Lord coverts our souls; it transforms us. Do you want to be transformed? The Word transforms us by renewing our minds to conform to God’s ways.
The Word of God is the testimony of the Lord.
It is God’s witness to us. The idea for this analogy is from the legal world, where a witness gives testimony to support a fact. The Word of God is God’s witness to us. It is God testifying of Himself and what He does. When we read the Bible, we hear God giving witness to support His reality: who He is and how He works. His word testifies that He is the Creator of all things without any comparison. The Lord is above all other gods. He is glorious in Holiness; mighty in works. There is nothing too hard for Him. That is how God testifies of Himself in His written Word.
As a testimony, God’s word is sure; it is trustworthy. Any witness that the Bible gives of God’s acts, can be trusted as an accurate statement of fact. When we receive the testimony of God’s Word, it makes us wise – He makes the simple, wise.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the testimony of Your word to me. Your word is my perfect instructor and guide. In Jesus name, Amen!Scripture Reading:
