Meaning

Salma, or Salmon (garment), (Ruth 4:20; Ruth 4:21; 1Chr 2:11; 1Chr 2:51; 1Chr 2:54; Matt 1:4; Matt 1:5; Luke 3:32) son of Nahshon. the prince of the children of Judah, and father of Boat, the husband of Ruth. (B.C. 1296.) Bethlehem-ephratah, which was Salmon’s inheritance, was part of the territory of Caleb, the grandson of Ephratah; and this caused him to be reckoned among the sons of Caleb.
