The passages in the New Testament where this word occurs are the following; (Acts 2:9; 6:9; 16:6; Acts 19:10; Acts 19:22; Acts 19:26; Acts 19:27; Acts 20:4; Acts 20:16; Acts 20:18; 21:27; 27:2; Romans 16:5; 1Corinthians 16:19; 2Corinthians 1:8; 2Timothy 1:15; 1Peter 1:1; Rev 1:4; Rev 1:11) In all these it may be confidently stated that the word is used for a Roman province which embraced the western part of the peninsula of Asia Minor and of which Ephesus was the capital.
