Meaning

Timna, or Timnah (restraint).

1. A concubine of Eliphaz son of Esau, and mother of Amalek (Genesis 36:12) it may be presumed that she was the same as Timna sister of Lotan. Ibid. ver. 22, and (1Chronicles 1:39) (B.C. after 1800.)

2. A duke or phylarch of Edom in the last list in (Genesis 1:36-43; 1Chronicles 1:51-54) Timnah was probably the name of a place or a district. [See the following article]
