"bright" (from phos, "light"), is said of a cloud, Mat 17:5; metaphorically of the body, Mat 6:22, "full of light;" Luk 11:34, Luk 11:36. See LIGHT.
"shining, brilliant, bright," is used of the clothing of an angel, Act 10:30, Rev 15:6; symbolically, of the clothing of the saints in glory, Rev 19:8, RV, in the best texts (AV, "white"); of Christ as the Morning Star, Rev 22:16; of the water of life, Rev 22:1, AV, "clear." See CLEAR, GAY, GOODLY, GORGEOUS, WHITE. Note: Cp. lampros, "sumptuously," Luk 16:19. "brightness," akin to A, No. 2, above, is found in Act 26:13. "a shining forth" (apo, "from," auge, "brightness"), of a light coming from a luminous body, is said of Christ in Heb 1:3, AV, "brightness," RV, "effulgence," i.e., shining forth (a more probable meaning than reflected brightness). Note: Epiphaneia, lit., "shining forth or upon," is rendered "brightness" in the AV of 2Th 2:8; RV, "manifestation." See APPEARING.
