properly denotes "an offspring;" then, "a family;" then, "a race, nation;" otherwise, "a kind or species;" it is translated "countrymen," in 2Co 11:26, in Paul's reference to his fellow-nationals; so in Gal 1:14, RV, for AV, "nation." See BEGET.
