"a flute-player" (from auleo, "to play the flute"), occurs in Mat 9:23 (AV, "minstrel"), and Rev 18:22 (AV, "pipers"). In the papyri writings of the time the word is chiefly associated with religious matters (Moulton and Milligan, Vocab.). Cp. MINSTREL.
