Hallelujah <1,,239, hallelouia>
signifies "Praise ye Jah." It occurs as a short doxology in the Psalms, usually at the beginning, e.g., Ps. 111; 112, or the end, e.g., Ps. 104; 105, or both, e.g., Ps. 106; 135 (where it is also used in Psa 135:3), Ps. 146; 147; 148; 149; 150. In the NT it is found in Rev 19:1, Rev 1:19-4, Rev 19:6, as the keynote in the song of the great multitude in heaven. "Alleluia," without the initial "H," is a misspelling.
