Hyssop <1,,5301, hussopos>

a bunch of which was used in ritual sprinklings, is found in Heb 9:19; in Joh 19:29 the reference is apparently to a branch or rod of "hyssop," upon which a sponge was put and offered to the Lord on the cross. The suggestion has been made that the word in the original may have been hussos, "a javelin;" there seems to be no valid reason for the supposition.
