an "idolater" (from eidolon, and latris, "a hireling"), is found in 1Co 1:5-11, 1Co 6:9, 1Co 10:7; the warning is to believers against turning away from God to idolatry, whether "openly or secretly, consciously or unconsciously" (Cremer); Eph 5:5, Rev 21:8, Rev 22:15.
