Idols (offered to, sacrificed to) <1,,1494, eidolothutos>

is an adjective signifying "sacrificed to idols" (eidolon, as above, and thuo, "to sacrifice"), Act 15:29, Act 21:25, 1Co 8:1, 1Co 8:4, 1Co 8:7, 1Co 8:10, 1Co 10:19 (in all these the RV substitutes "sacrificed" for the AV); Rev 2:14, Rev 2:20 (in these the RV and AV both have "sacrificed"). Some inferior mss. have this adjective in 1Co 10:28; see No. 2. The flesh of the victims, after sacrifice, was eaten or sold.

"offered in sacrifice" (hieros, "sacred," and thuo, "to sacrifice"), is found in the best mss. in 1Co 10:28 (see No. 1).
