Instruments <1,,3696, hoplon>

"a tool, instrument, weapon," is used metaphorically in Rom 6:13 of the members of the body as "instruments" (marg., "weapons"), negatively, of unrighteousness, positively, of righteousness. The metaphor is probably military (cp. Rom 6:23, "wages," i.e., soldiers' pay); Moule renders it "implements;" "weapons" seems to be the meaning. See ARMOR, WEAPONS.
