"remaining" (for which see REMNANT), is frequently used to mean "the rest," and is generally so translated in the RV (AV, "others" in Luk 8:10, Act 28:9, Eph 2:3, 1Th 4:13, 1Th 5:6, 1Ti 5:20; AV, "other" in Luk 18:11, Act 17:9, Rom 1:13, 2Co 12:13, 2Co 13:2, Gal 2:13, Phi 1:13, Phi 4:3); the neut. plur., lit., "remaining things," is used in Luk 12:26, 1Co 11:34.

signifying "still left, left over" (epi, "over," and No. 1), is used in the neuter with the article in 1Pe 4:2, "the rest (of your time)."
