Wit (to)

a relative adverb signifying "as," or "how," is used in 2Co 5:19 to introduce the statement "that God was ...," and rendered "to wit," lit., "how."

"to know, to make known," is rendered "we do (you) to wit" in 2Co 8:1, AV, RV, "we make known (to you)." See KNOW, No. 8.

Note: In Rom 8:23 the italicized words "to wit" are added to specify the particular meaning of "adoption" there mentioned.
