And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son

John 14:13

Why does God answer our prayers? He answers our prayers for His sake as well as ours. He answers our prayers to show His glory. God’s glory is who He is. When we pray to Him, we give Him the opportunity to show us His nature, attributes and power. Understanding this concept increases our confidence in prayer; we can know that God will answer our prayers because our request allows Him to show Himself strong to us.

Many times when we pray, we get so concerned with whether God will answer our prayers. We forget that the God is more committed to the answer to our prayers than we are. He delights in answering our prayers. When God answers our prayers:

• We see His love. God puts His love for us on display when He responds to our requests. He is so concerned that He takes note of every request that comes to Him. Although prayers are offered by the billions of people on our planet, He still reaches out to each one of us, one at a time. He is concerned about your need and your desires.

• We see His power. God is able to turn around the natural course of events to favour the cause of those who petition Him for help. When He responds to our prayers, He moves every obstacle that stands between us and our miracle. He has the power to heal, deliver and bless us without any limitations.

• We see His goodness. Every answer to prayer shows us the goodness of the Lord. It is out of His goodness that we receive our needs.

All of these are reflections of God’s glory. When we pray, He has the opportunity to put them on display to us. So come into His presence with confidence, knowing He is a prayer-answering God.

Prayer:

Lord, I give you glory in advance for what you will do in my life.
