Proverbs 13:12
Delayed expectations can be grievous to the heart. When a person waits for several years to get a job, a marital partner, a child or healing, it can be a wearisome experience. Sometimes they give up and feel sick with disappointment. Like Abraham, you may be carrying a promise that may have delayed; however, do not throw away your confidence. Job 14:7 says, “For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease.”
When the long awaited desire finally arrives, it brings so much joy that the bible describes it as a tree of life. John 16:21 says of a mother, “as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.” You may be dealing with a delayed expectation in one area of your life or another. Time may be running out for you. Colossians 1:27 says Christ in you is the hope of glory. Keep hope alive and hold fast to God’s word. When your desire is met, the pain, uncertainty and anxiety will surely be forgotten. One of these days, you will look back, rejoice and sing a song of victory.
