"to drink down" (kata, and pino, "to drink"), "to swallow," is used with this meaning (a) physically, but figuratively, Mat 23:24, Rev 12:16; (b) metaphorically, in the Passive Voice, of death (by victory), 1Co 15:54; of being overwhelmed by sorrow, 2Co 2:7; of the mortal body (by life), 2Co 5:4.
